Set sail to the East or West Cretan Coasts

Western Route
Gerani 4 NM
An admirable spot close to Rethymno is the shingled beach of Gerani. The wild view of the high rocks and the white small church on the shore recalls a canvas of a famous artist.
Petres 6 NM
The sandy beach of Petres is located at the most eastern end of the vast beachfront of Episkopi. It took the name from the imposing Petres Gorge that ends there. The place has an incredible view of the mountain range Lefka Ori (West) especially during the spring when the snow is still dense there. The seabed is rocky, suitable for spearfishing and snorkelling. The area around is ideal for sunbathing and relaxing.
Georgioupolis 12 NM
It’s a small town by the sea, situated in a lush valley filled with rivers and springs. The organised beach of Georgioupolis is the western edge of the long seaside of Episkopi. There you may enjoy the combined beauty of land and sea, e.g. the dunes in places, the crystal and cold shallow waters, the long and precipitous western peninsula, the small picturesque church of Agios Nicolaos on the sea and the port inside the riverbed of Perastikos.
Ombrosgialos 20 NM
It’s a hidden rocky bay with deep blue waters, located 26 km east of Chania. There is a small harbour where the summer days sailing vessels and speedboats drop anchor for enjoying the view or taking a dive. Next to the shore, a small tavern is famous for its fish dishes. The beach is not well organised but you can explore the bottom of the sea doing scuba diving or snorkelling. All the route from Rethymno to Ombrosgialos is so impressive!
Eastern Route
Spilies (Caves) 8 NM
Widely known as beach of Maliou to Ryaki or Kitrenosis, is an astonishing small bay with pebbles where you can find umbrellas, sunbeds and a small traditional tavern surrounded by sheer cliffs and the salty beauty of the Cretan Sea. The place is famous for the sea caves on the western side, a unique natural sightseeing. Also is a refuge for the Mediterranean monk seal Monachus monachus. Highly recommended for calmness and reflection.
Geropotamos 10 NM
It’ s a large river of Rethymno which collects the waters from many tributaries on the northern slope of Psiloritis. It flows into the homonymous beach with the wide mouth, where it forms a significant wetland. The name means Sacred River and is located at the spot where ancient Avlona existed. There, a traditional fishing vessel has been transformed into a nice cocktail bar.
Panormos 11 NM
A picturesque seafront village, which nowadays is a touristic oasis into the rocky and wild Cretan landscape. Eastwards the peninsula protects the harbour from the Levant wind. There you can find rest on the sandy beach of Limanaki in front of the ruins of Mylopotamos castle, a living memory of the glorious past.
Bali 18 NM
Once upon a time was a fishermen’s village, but now has been developed in an important and impressive resort which consists of hotels, apartments, markets, organised beaches, taverns and bars. During the Venetian era was a well protected anchorage for the conquerors known as Porto di Atali.
